At each regular visit, your dentist will take the time for a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, allowing you time to discuss any problems or concerns you may have. If a cavity or other problem is detected, your dentist will discuss options for treatment. In some cases, your dentist may recommend sealants to prevent a potential cavity from worsening or prevent cavity formation in a cavity-prone location.
If you have crowns or dental implants, it is especially important that your dentist evaluate them regularly to ensure that they’re in good shape. Your dentist will instruct you on proper care of your crown or implant as well.
